The Louisville FBI is a partner in the Appalachia-High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) located is eastern Kentucky.  Recently designated a "polydrug" HIDTA, this task force of federal, state, and local agencies  targets organized marijuana cultivation/distribution, methamphetamine importation, production, and distribution, pharmaceutical drug diversion, as well as cocaine trafficking in more than sixty counties throughout Kentucky, W. Virginia, and Tennessee.  The Louisville FBI also addresses significant local drug problems, but in a manner consistent with an FBI national strategy to disrupt and dismantle nationally recognized drug trafficking organizations.
