The Louisville FBI participates in Health Care Fraud Task Forces in both the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky.  The Task Forces comprise the FBI, Department of Health and Human Services-Office of Inspector General, United States Postal Inspection Service, United States Attorney's Office, private insurance company special investigative units, and Administar, the Medicare Part A and B contractor.  The Task Forces meets formally on a quarterly basis and informally, through case contact, on a more frequent basis.  Referrals of suspected fraud activity are brought to the Task Force's attention by the Medicare contractor and by the private insurance company special investigative units.  Referrals are investigated jointly by the member law enforcement agencies.
