Covington Man Sentenced to 10 Years in Prison for Drug Trafficking

COVINGTON, KY—David Huntley, 34, of Covington, Ky. was sentenced today to 120 months in prison by Judge David Bunning for drug trafficking.

In the course of his guilty plea in May of 2009, Huntley admitted that he possessed more than 500 grams of cocaine with the intent to distribute it. Huntley had a prior felony drug conviction and two prior felony weapons convictions. He was indicted in June of 2007.

Under federal law, Huntley will have to serve at least 85 percent of his prison sentence before release. He will also be subject to eight years of supervised release after the completion of his prison sentence.

“Thanks to the Covington Police Department and the FBI Safe Streets Task Force another felon selling large amounts of drugs has been taken off of the streets,” said Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Bracke

James A. Zerhusen, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Timothy D. Cox, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly made the announcement today after Huntley was sentenced. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Covington Police Department.
