Lexington, Ky. — Larry Wayne Riddell, 60, of Irvine, Kentucky was sentenced today to 57 months in prison by Chief United States District Court Judge Jennifer B. Coffman. He must report to prison for service of his sentence on June 7, 2008. He was also ordered to pay $ 545,111.00 in restitution for stolen property.
In November of 2007, Riddell pleaded guilty to felony charges and admitted that he was a member of a conspiracy to possess stolen property and to have stolen property transported across state lines. The stolen property included medicines, health and beauty aids, electronics, computers, baby formula, and small appliances. The conspirators obtained the stolen property between 2004 and June 6, 2007, the day that Federal Agents and the State Police arrested Riddell and searched his Estill County businesses and home. At sentencing, the Federal Judge found that Riddell was the organizer and leader of the conspiracy.
Riddell also pleaded guilty to charges and admitted that he was a convicted felon who was unlawfully in possession of firearms on June 6, 2007. Numerous firearms were found at his Estill County residence.
Under federal law, Riddell must serve 85 percent of his prison sentence, and, upon release, will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for 3 years.
James A. Zerhusen, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky made the announcement today after the sentencing.
The investigation was conducted by the Kentucky State Police, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms. The United States was represented by Assistant United States Attorney David Grise. |
