PRESS RELEASE

London, Ky. —Joshua Bartley, of London, Ky., pled guilty today to defrauding a United States solider, United States District Court Judge Karen K. Caldwell.

In the course of his guilty plea, Bartley admitted to knowingly taking and using the identification documents of a United States soldier who was deployed overseas, to secure health care benefits and services at Marymount Medical Center. The purpose of this scheme was to fraudulently obtain prescription narcotics.

James A. Zerhusen, Acting United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Larry R. Willis, Acting Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, (FBI) jointly made the announcement today after Bartley entered his guilty plea.

The investigation was conducted by the FBI. The United States was represented in the case by Assistant United States Attorney W. Samuel Dotson.

Bartley is currently scheduled to appear for sentencing in United States District Court in Lexington, Ky., on July 24th, at 10:00 a.m. Bartley faces a maximum prison sentence of 5 years. However, any sentence following conviction would be imposed by the court after consideration of the United States Sentencing Guidelines and the federal statute governing the imposition of sentences.
