CONVINGTON, Ky. — Derrick Love, 31, of Covington, Ky., pleaded guilty today before United Sates District Court Judge David L. Bunning for the distribution of crack cocaine and the use of a telephone to further drug trafficking. Love, who was indicted in January of this year, admitted in the course of his guilty plea that he sold a quantity of cocaine on Oct. 20, 2004 and a quantity of over five grams of crack cocaine on Oct. 26 of the same year. He is also accused of using a telephone to set up drug transactions on Sept. 3, 5 and 23 of 2005. Love faces five to 40 years in prison, a fine of up to $2 million and at least four years of supervised release. Amul R. Thapar, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Tracy A. Reinhold, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly made the announcement today after the plea was entered. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force. The United States was represented in the case by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony J. Bracke.
