COVINGTON, Ky. — Charles Mitchell, aka Murder, 27, of Cincinnati, Ohio, was indicted today for conspiracy to distribute 50 grams or more of crack cocaine and using a telephone to further drug trafficking.

The indictment alleges that Mitchell conspired with others to distribute over 50 grams of crack cocaine in Kenton County, Ky. during a time period concluding Nov. 30, 2005. He is also accused of using a telephone to further drug transactions on 22 occasions.

If convicted, he faces 10 years to life in prison, a fine of up to $4 million and at least five years of supervised release.

Amul R. Thapar, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Tracy A. Reinhold, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly made the announcement today after a federal grand jury in Covington, Ky. returned the indictment.

The investigation preceding the indictment was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Safe Streets Task Force. The indictment was presented to the Grand Jury by Assistant United States Attorney Anthony Bracke.

Mitchell’s hearing before the United States District Court has not yet been set by the court in Covington, Ky.

The indictment of a person by a grand jury is an accusation only and that person is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
