COVINGTON, Ky. - Andre Finnell, 26, of Covington, Ky., was sentenced today to 150 months after being convicted by a federal jury in November of last year for the possession with the intent to distribute over five grams of crack cocaine, announced U.S. Attorney Amul R. Thapar. He was sentenced by U.S. District Court Judge David L. Bunning.

The evidence presented during the two day trial proved that in March of 2006, Finnell distributed five grams or more of crack cocaine. Finnell was previously convicted in May of 1999 in Kenton County Circuit Court in May for possession of crack cocaine.

Under federal law, Finnell must serve eighty-five percent of his prison sentence. Upon release from prison, Finnell will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for eight years.

The investigation was conducted by the Covington Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, Safe Streets Task Force. Assistant United States Attorney Anthony J. Brake represented the United States in the case.
