LONDON, Ky. —Ralph William Cain, 41, of Jeffersonville, IN., was sentenced today to 209 months in prison for robbing two banks at gunpoint in Pulaski and Garrard Counties, after pleading guilty in October of 2006. Cain was also sentenced an additional six months for contempt of court due to interrupting court proceedings during sentencing. Cain will serve a total of 215 months. He was sentenced by United States District Court Judge Danny C. Reeves. During the course of his plea, Cain admitted that on January 24, 2006, he, and his girlfriend Jessica Herren, robbed the BB&T Bank in Pulaski County of $2,353. During the robbery, Herren drove the “get-away” car after Cain robbed the bank at gunpoint. Cain also admitted that on January 31, 2006, he and Herren robbed the Central Kentucky Federal Savings Bank in Garrard County of $5,052. Herren once again drove the “get-away” car while Cain robbed the bank at gunpoint. Under federal law, Cain must serve eighty-five percent of his prison sentence. Upon release from prison, Cain will be under the supervision of the United States Probation Office for five years. Herren pleaded guilty in January of this year and was sentenced to 120 months. The investigation was conducted by the Federal Bureau of Investigations. The United States was represented by Assistant United States Attorney Gregory A. Ousley. Amul R. Thapar, United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, and Tracy A. Reinhold, Special Agent in Charge, Federal Bureau of Investigation, jointly made the announcement today after the sentencing.
