The Louisville FBI Applicant Program manages the background investigations on all persons who apply for positions with the Department of Energy, Nuclear Regulatory Commission, Department of Justice, and the FBI.  The program also oversees the background checks for Presidential Appointees and persons nominated to be judges in the federal court system.  Background investigations include interviewing current and former neighbors and co-workers of applicants.  Criminal history and credit checks are also conducted.  The results of these background investigations are submitted to FBI Headquarters in Washington, D.C. for review and forwarding to the applicable hiring agency.
